Make crafts, play games, and hang out with our animal education ambassadors at the Fox Valley Wildlife Center. Each week will focus on a different topic:

Junior Journey Grades K-2:

Elementary Exploration Grades 3-5:

Join fellow spelunkers as you travel through Marvel Cave attempting to solve the mystery of what nearly wiped out our Gray Bat population a couple decades ago. Complete a student workbook as you go from station to station gathering evidence and solving equations to help you determine the culprit. Book early, only 1 tour available.
  • Meet master craftsmen and watch them in action as we Salute The Great American Cowboy during National Harvest Festival.

Types of Education Programs

Camp On-Demand

NEW! This customizable 2-hour program is designed for groups of 5-15 children aged 6 and up. This is a great program for groups unable to attend our traditional summer camps. Camp On-Demand includes live animal encounters, a 30 minute presentation, a craft or activity, and a nature hike. Activities are conducted in an outdoor building so please dress accordingly. Programs may be rescheduled due to inclement weather. Camps On-Demand can be booked from June—October. Please book a month in advance to reserve your date.
$20 per child

Girl/Boy Scout Badge Program

This program is especially created for girl and boy scouts. Students will get to learn about waterfowl, songbirds, mammals, and reptiles, as well as meet three of our education ambassadors. Each scout will also get to make a cool craft and take home a Fox Valley Wildlife Center Badge!
$10 per student, adults free

Animal Friends

This program is 30-45 minutes in length and focuses on basic Illinois wildlife and rehabilitation. It is hands-on with two of our education ambassador animals and includes visual aids and fun facts. Perfect for young children or a small group!

Animal Adventures

This program is 45-60 minutes in length and will provide a more in-depth review of Illinois wildlife and rehabilitation. Included are visual aids, a PowerPoint presentation (if requested), and three education ambassadors.

Raptor (Birds of Prey) Program

This 30 minute presentation will include a PowerPoint on all the native raptors in Illinois. At the end of the presentation, you will be able to ask questions while meeting our very own education ambassador raptor(s). Skulls, talons, and preserved wings will be a part of this fascinating presentation. Perfect for adults and children alike who are interested in these captivating birds.

Judson Music Camp

Fox Valley Music Camp at Judson University

The Fox Valley Music Camp at Judson University is a great place for budding musicians to learn about music basics and for more advanced musicians to hone their skills.  Camp week is June 23-27, 2014. They offer a Half Day camp (9 am-noon) for K-2nd graders and a Full Day camp (9 am – 4 pm) for 3rd-12th grade campers.  Visit www.judsonu.edu/FVMC for more information and an on-line registration form – but hurry, the Early Bird discount ends May 23rd and Registration closes June 13th.

Volunteers needed in Will County’s Heritage Village

Would you like to know how it feels to a be a Pioneer? Dress in a Pioneers Costume? Meet new people? Volunteers needed at the Will County Historical Society’s Heritage Village, in Lockport,Il

Our goal is to keep the Heritage Village open one weekend a month during the summer. It will take at least three volunteers to keep the buildings open & show people around.

We are looking for families or groups that would like to volunteer together. Children could play on the grounds with traditional toys, play games or just walk around in costume. Adults would monitor visitors to the school house, depot, farm house and calaboose.   Home school families could set up in the school house, sit at the desks and fell what it was like to learn in a one room school house atmosphere.

Costumes would be provided, but costumes are not mandatory.

Hours served will count toward community service hours for high-schoolers. Miles driven to the Village would be tax deductible.
